Russia Plans to Modernize 75 Airports by 2030

Russia currently has 226 civilian airports, with at least 75 of them scheduled for modernization by 2030, according to Dmitry Yadrov, head of Rosaviatsiya, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, in a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Yadrov reported that work is already underway. New runways have been commissioned in Grozny and Makhachkala, new terminals have opened in Blagoveshchensk, Orenburg, and Barnaul, and taxiway reconstruction will be completed by the end of this year in Bratsk and Perm. In Mirny, a new airport complex is scheduled to be operational by early 2027. Projects for aerovisual complexes and infrastructure have been approved in Vologda, Salekhard, and Smolensk. By the end of the year, airfield surface repairs will be completed in Cheboksary, Ulyanovsk, Lensk, Ust-Kuiga, Tynda, and Omolon. In the Far East and Siberia, new aerovisual complexes have opened in Tilichiki (Kamchatka region) and Bogorodskoye (Khabarovsk region), with similar complexes set to open by the end of the year in Palana, Tura, Ayane, and Pevek.
