Wholesale prices have seen an even more significant rise, with increases of 30-50%. The price surge is attributed to several factors, including a modest honey harvest this year and rising production costs. In the European part of Russia, the honey collection was hindered by unfavorable weather conditions, while regions in the Volga and Siberia had a good harvest. Overall, the total honey harvest in 2026 is expected to be similar to the previous year, but logistical challenges have arisen. Due to fuel issues, producers have stopped transporting honey over long distances. Additionally, the cost of producing honey has increased. Not only has fuel become more expensive, but also packaging materials, sugar for feeding bees, electricity, and bee colonies themselves, some of which were lost due to frosts and pesticide poisoning during agricultural treatments.
