### Russian Family Mortgage Program to Introduce New Terms Starting October 1, 2026 Starting October 1, 2026, Russia will implement new rules for its family mortgage program. One of the key changes is a limit on the subsidized loan period, which will now be capped at 15 years. Additionally, the interest rate on the subsidized mortgage will vary depending on the number of children in the family: the more children, the lower the interest rate. For families across Russia, excluding Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Pyotrsburg, and the Leningrad region, the program will offer the following terms: - 2% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 10 million rubles – for families with five or more children; - 4% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 10 million rubles – for families with four children; - 6% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 10 million rubles – for families with three children; - 8% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 8 million rubles – for families with two children; - 10% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 6 million rubles – for families with one child. For families in the capital regions (Moscow and St. Pyotrsburg), the conditions will be as follows: - 4% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 18 million rubles – for families with five or more children; - 6% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 18 million rubles – for families with four children; - 8% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 18 million rubles – for families with three children; - 10% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 15 million rubles – for families with two children; - 12% annual interest rate, maximum loan amount of 12 million rubles – for families with one child. All categories will also be subject to the condition that at least one child is under the age of 7. The maximum loan amount for these families will be 10 million rubles. Currently, the family mortgage program offers a fixed interest rate of 6% per annum for the entire loan period, regardless of the number of children in the family. The new rules are set to take effect on October 1, 2026. Russians have less than a week left to sign contracts under the current terms.
