European spot gas prices surge above $1,000 per thousand cubic meters

Spot gas prices at major European trading hubs have surpassed $1,000 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since December 2022, according to TASS.

At the TTF hub in the Netherlands, day-ahead gas prices rose to $1,005 per thousand cubic meters, or €83.685 per MWh. In Germany, at the THE platform, gas prices climbed to $1,009 per thousand cubic meters, or €84 per MWh. At the CEGH hub in Austria, prices reached $1,015 per thousand cubic meters, or €84.55 per MWh. In France, at the PEG hub, gas prices went up to $1,000 per thousand cubic meters, or €83.27 per MWh. In Belgium, at the ZTP platform, prices increased to $1,003 per thousand cubic meters, or €83.5 per MWh. In Spain, at the PVB platform, gas prices rose to $1,006 per thousand cubic meters, or €83.75 per MWh.

However, October futures on the most liquid regional platform, the TTF hub in the Netherlands, have not yet broken through this psychological barrier. At its peak, gas was trading here at $995 per thousand cubic meters.
