The Russian government will allocate over 1 billion rubles ($13 million) to renew the fleet of ambulances in 18 regions across the country, according to a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
With federal funding, 196 new ambulances made by Russian manufacturers will be purchased. The vehicles will then be distributed to regions that are assessed by authorities as most in need of updating their specialized transport.
The new ambulances will be sent to Altai Republic, Buryatia, Karelia, and Mari El Republic, Khabarovsk Krai, as well as Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Kursk, Murmansk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Orenburg, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk, Tyumen, and Yaroslavl regions, and the Jewish Autonomous Region.
Updating the fleet is expected to improve the quality of emergency medical services and reduce response times for patients.
