Russia has begun importing fuel and has prepared the regulatory framework to increase the production of petroleum products, according to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin for the "Vesti" program.
Novak stated that the necessary decisions have already been made, including allowing the production of additional fuel volumes with lower environmental standards – Euro-2, Euro-3, and Euro-4.
"We have already started importing fuel, and all the necessary legal acts have been adopted to allow the production of additional fuel – of lower classes: Euro-2, Euro-3, Euro-4," Novak said.
He emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring stability in the domestic market and maintaining an adequate supply of fuel.
Earlier, Novak had reported that he expects several Russian oil refineries to resume operations soon after completing maintenance work, which would further increase the production of petroleum products.
