### Ruble Depreciates Marginally Against Major Currencies on Monday On Monday, the Russian ruble is experiencing a slight decline against a basket of major currencies, with losses remaining within 0.5%. In the interbank market, the ruble-to-Chinese yuan (CNY/RUB) exchange rate is trading at 11.55 rubles per yuan. In the dollar-ruble pair (USD/RUB), the ruble is valued at 78.33 rubles per U.S. dollar. It is worth noting that the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has announced that as of December 27, 2024, it will set official exchange rates for foreign currencies against the ruble based on consolidated data from both exchange and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market. This change, introduced under CBR Regulation No. 6956-U, is intended to enhance the representativeness of official rates in light of the growing volume of off-exchange transactions. Starting from June 8, 2026, the CBR has revised its methodology for calculating the official euro-ruble (EUR/RUB) exchange rate. Instead of relying on direct quotes for euro-ruble transactions, the CBR now calculates the rate using a cross-currency formula: EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (based on data from the European Central Bank).
