Baggage System Failure Disrupts Operations at Vnukovo Airport, 34 Flights Delayed

Flights at Vnukovo Airport have been disrupted due to a malfunction in the baggage handling system, causing delays and cancellations for dozens of flights, according to Russian news outlet Baza.

Preliminary reports indicate that issues with baggage processing began in the morning. The failure of equipment forced airport staff to partially switch to manual sorting and loading of luggage, leading to delays in servicing aircraft.

In total, 34 flights have been delayed and 3 flights have been canceled due to the technical failure. On the arrival side, 26 flights are delayed and 2 have been canceled. Among departing flights, 8 are still waiting, with one departure canceled.

One passenger reported that they were scheduled to fly to Antalya on a Utair flight at 10:30 am. Passengers boarded the plane and took their seats, but the flight did not take off — people spent about three hours in the aircraft waiting for the baggage issue to be resolved.

Due to delays, some travelers are at risk of missing connecting flights and having to change their plans.

Currently, some baggage is being accepted through conveyor belts for oversized cargo. Airport specialists are working to resolve the technical issues and restore normal baggage processing operations.
