One killed, 13 injured in severe weather in Rostov, Russia

Alexander Skryabin, Mayor of Rostov-on-Don, reported on the aftermath of severe weather that hit the city. Heavy rain and strong winds resulted in 13 people being injured, with 7 of them hospitalized. One person lost their life.

The storm caused over 100 incidents. Emergency and rescue services worked throughout the night to address the situation.

Efforts to clear up the damage involved 6 teams from the municipal search and rescue service, 3 teams from the regional rescue service, and 21 emergency crews from district administrations and utility companies.

Specialists have so far dealt with 26 incidents. Another 73 cases remain under the supervision of emergency services.

Workers are first removing fallen trees and large branches from roads and sidewalks, which pose a threat to residents and traffic. Following this, a full-scale cleanup will commence.

Water supply has been fully restored across the city. Work to restore electricity is ongoing.
