In the first half of 2026, alcohol consumption in Russia, measured in liters of pure alcohol per capita, stood at 7.77 liters. This represents a 6.5% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, when consumption was 8.31 liters, according to data from the Ministry of Health cited by Kommersant.
Among the regions with the highest alcohol consumption were Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Jewish Autonomous Okrug, Chukotka, and Kostroma Oblast. The lowest consumption was recorded in the North Caucasus regions of Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, and Ingushetia. Moscow also made it into the list of "sober" regions.
