Almost 37,000 new IT companies and individual entrepreneurs entered the Russian IT market in the first half of 2026, a 64% increase from the previous year, according to data from Rusprofile cited by Kommersant.

In total, there are now 273,000 IT companies and individual entrepreneurs active in the market, with 68% being individual entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, over 5,000 organizations are currently undergoing liquidation, reorganization, or bankruptcy.

The increase in the number of IT companies is attributed to organizational legal restructuring and a lower entry threshold into the industry due to artificial intelligence. According to the Ministry of Digital Development (Mintsifry), more than 500 new companies received accreditation in the first half of 2026, bringing the total number of organizations in the registry to over 21,000.
