Parallel imports into Russia reached $8.7 billion in the first five months of 2026, according to Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Roman Chekushov.

"Currently, parallel import volumes are generally stable month-on-month, averaging around $1.7 billion per month," he told reporters, as quoted by TASS.

In May, parallel imports hit $2.3 billion, driven by seasonal factors. Chekushov stressed that the ministry does not aim to either reduce or increase these figures.

(Parallel imports refer to goods brought into Russia without the consent of the original manufacturer or authorized distributor, often as a way to circumvent trade restrictions or sanctions.)
