Wholesale prices for broiler chicken meat reached 200 rubles ($2.50) per kilogram by mid-June, marking a 10% year-on-year increase, according to data from industry associations cited by Kommersant.

Prices for specific cuts of broiler chicken also rose: thighs increased by 26% to 158 rubles ($2.00) per kg, fillets by 25% to 360 rubles ($4.50), and drumsticks by 10% to 170 rubles ($2.15). However, prices fell for wings by 4% to 188 rubles ($2.35) per kg, drumsticks by 2% to 172 rubles ($2.15), and mechanically deboned meat by 16% to 52 rubles ($0.65).

In retail, according to Rosstat data, the average price of chicken meat reached 233 rubles ($2.90) per kg, representing a 2.9% year-on-year increase.

Experts attribute the price hike to a decrease in market supply. According to Rosstat, Russian agricultural organizations produced 2.76 million tons of poultry meat from January to May 2026, which is 2.1% lower than the same period last year.
