Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has called on BRICS member states to establish a joint response mechanism to address threats and emergencies. He made the proposal during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi, on the sidelines of a high-level BRICS security meeting, according to Kommersant.
"Given the deteriorating international situation, we believe it is important to create within BRICS the necessary working mechanisms for collective and prompt response to emerging threats and crises, as well as for the formation of joint resource reserves to overcome the consequences of emergency situations," Shoigu said, clarifying that Russia expects support from its "Chinese friends" on this issue.
