Russia has resumed exports of rapeseed oil to Afghanistan in 2026, according to the federal center for agricultural export support, ending a hiatus that began in 2022.
From January to May 2026, Afghanistan received 1,400 tons of Russian rapeseed oil worth nearly $2 million. In 2022, total deliveries of this product amounted to about 1,000 tons valued at $1.8 million.
Overall, Russia has exported over 100,000 tons of agricultural products to Afghanistan worth $52 million since the start of 2026. This is 3.6 times more in volume and three times higher in value compared to the same period in 2025. Sunflower oil, corn, wheat or rye-wheat flour, dried chickpeas, and rapeseed oil were the most purchased items by Afghanistan from Russia in terms of value.
