Retail sales of honey in Russia fell by 7-8% year-on-year in January-May, according to data from NTech and "Check Index" cited by Kommersant. This marks the second consecutive year of decline, with sales dropping by 10% the previous year.

The decline in sales came on the heels of rising honey prices, which increased by 12-16% over the past year. The average price of a liter of honey reached 868 rubles ($11.5) in January-May. The price hike was driven by the depletion of affordable stock from previous seasons and the challenging conditions for beekeepers in 2025, when the bee population decreased by 20-25% due to harsh winter conditions.
