Preliminary reports indicate that a gas leak may have caused the fire on a major gas pipeline in Kizilyurt District, Dagestan, according to a statement by Isprafil Isprafilov, head of the regional Center for Region Management, as reported by TASS.

Emergency services quickly took control of the situation and continued working until the incident was fully resolved, according to Isprafilov.

The incident occurred on June 9 near the village of Bavtugay on the Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas pipeline. According to the regional Emergency Situations Ministry, an explosion occurred on the pipeline, followed by a flare-up approximately 15 meters high. The affected section of the pipeline was shut down as a safety precaution.

There were no casualties or injuries reported as a result of the incident. Emergency services personnel and specialized equipment were deployed to address the situation.

Earlier, authorities had evacuated over 100 residents from nearby settlements due to the risk of fire spreading. Once the flare-up was extinguished, the situation began to stabilize, and evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.

Local authorities have confirmed that the fire on the gas pipeline has been completely extinguished. Experts are now assessing the condition of the damaged section and investigating the circumstances of the incident.
