### Putin Signs Law Providing Debt Relief for Military Operation Participants and Their Spouses
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law providing debt relief for participants in the special military operation (SMO) and their spouses, subject to certain conditions.
The new regulations apply to military personnel who have signed a service contract no earlier than May 1, 2026, for a minimum term of one year. Similar support measures are also provided for their spouses.
Under the law, debts on loans and credits are eligible for write-off if a court decision on debt recovery was already in effect before the contract was signed, or if an enforcement document was issued or sent for execution. The total amount of obligations that can be canceled is capped at 10 million rubles.
Previously, a similar mechanism was in place for SMO participants who signed contracts starting from December 1, 2024. The new law effectively extends the support program to another category of military personnel.
The document has already been published on the official legal information portal.
