In Russia, the number of ATMs stood at 130,300 by the end of the first quarter of 2026, marking a year-on-year decline of 1.2%, according to the Central Bank of Russia (CBR).

The regulator attributed the decrease to a partial shift among consumers from card payments to alternative payment methods, as well as optimization efforts by banks, which have led to a reduction in locations, cash-in-transit costs, and maintenance expenses. Meanwhile, the number of POS terminals increased by 0.7% to 5.4 million during the quarter.
