### Retail Prices of Essential Goods Drop in Russia in April 2026 In April 2026, the minimum retail prices of essential consumer goods in major Russian retail chains fell by 1.1% month-on-month and by 9% year-on-year, according to data from the Association of Companies of Russian Retail Trade (AKORT), as reported by TASS. The most significant price reductions were seen in millet (-16.5%), rice (-10.6%), potatoes (-9.4%), wheat flour (-8.1%), and pork (-7.8%). Other products that became cheaper include black tea (-3.6%), chicken eggs (-2.5%), pasta (-2.4%), milk (-2.4%), butter (-1.9%), mutton (-1.5%), and apples (-1.1%). Notably, the retail markup on essential goods dropped to a record low of 0.5% in April. For comparison, the markup was 1.6% a month earlier and 2.7% a year earlier. On an annual basis, essential goods became 8.8% cheaper. The most significant price drops were observed in potatoes (-43.7%), beets (-42.6%), cabbage (-34.7%), onions (-31.3%), rice (-29.5%), butter (-18.7%), black tea (-14.4%), salt (-12.7%), and pork (-12.3%).
