Prices of socially significant products drop by 11.3% on average in regions

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has reported a decrease in prices and trade markups for essential food products in several regions following agreements with market participants.
According to the agency, in 11 regions, the average price of 39 items in the food basket has dropped by 11.3%. The most significant price reductions were observed in specific categories: tomatoes fell by 34.7%, cottage cheese by 28.5%, potatoes by 20.7%, onions by 19.2%, and sour cream by 19.1%.
In terms of regional impact, the most significant effect of the agreements was seen in Vologda Oblast, where prices dropped by 36.7%, and in Altai Krai, where prices fell by 32.6%.
At the same time, trade markups also decreased. In 13 regions that provided data, the average reduction was 8.6%. The most substantial decrease in markups was recorded in Ivanovo Oblast (20%), followed by Novosibirsk Oblast (15.7%), Oryol Oblast (13.3%), Magadan Oblast (11.7%), and Karachay-Cherkessia (8.8%).
The FAS views the agreements as one of the tools for stabilizing prices on essential goods.
