The Russian government must approve the long-term strategy for bioeconomy development in Russia by June 1, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered following the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum and a meeting with scientists.

"Taking into account previous instructions, approve the long-term strategy for bioeconomy development in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2036 and beyond, and align strategic planning documents with it," reads the list of instructions published on the Kremlin website.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of the directive.
