In the first quarter of 2026, pork was the only meat category to show an increase in supply. Russian agricultural organizations produced 1.47 million tons of livestock for slaughter in live weight. Year-on-year, the figure rose by 5.7%, according to data from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), as reported by Kommersant.

Production volumes increased in almost all key regions. For example, in the Belgorod region, pork production for slaughter grew by 4.9% year-on-year, and in the Kursk region by 9.4%. The Ministry of Agriculture attributed the strong growth to an influx of investments.

Meanwhile, poultry production for slaughter fell by 2.7% year-on-year to 1.63 million tons, and beef production by 4.2% to 266.2 thousand tons. Experts noted that the dynamics in chicken production were influenced by complex epizootic conditions, turkey production by a shortage of hatching eggs, and cattle production by anti-epizootic measures in some regions.

The increase in production and market saturation have already led to a decrease in pork prices. From April 13 to 19, the wholesale price of market hogs fell by 3% to 141 rubles per kilogram.
