The State Duma Committee on Information Policy has recommended rejecting a bill that would require mandatory labeling of content created using artificial intelligence, according to Interfax.
Deputy Chairman of the Information Policy Committee Anton Gorelikin stated that the initiative did not receive support from the relevant committee. He argued that implementing such requirements in practice could be overly extensive, as a significant portion of internet content would need to be labeled.
"We would have to label 90% of the entire internet, while scammers, of course, would not label anything," the MP noted.
Gorelikin also stressed that introducing mandatory labeling would likely not be an effective tool in combating illegal use of AI. The committee deemed the proposal excessive and difficult to implement.
