Russian Human Rights Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova presented her annual report to President Vladimir Putin, summarizing the work of the ombudsman institution and reviewing her 10-year tenure in the role. A key focus of the meeting was humanitarian efforts related to the return of Russian servicemen and civilians from Ukraine.

According to materials prepared for the meeting, since the start of the special military operation, 3,724 Russian servicemen have been returned from Ukrainian captivity. Additionally, the fate of over 9,000 soldiers has been established.

Moskalkova noted that the work on prisoner exchanges is carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, the Federal Security Service (FSB), and other relevant agencies. She stated that Russia has managed to establish a complex but effective dialogue with Ukraine on issues such as mutual visits to prisoners of war and providing them with humanitarian assistance.

The ombudsman highlighted that one of the goals was to prevent ill-treatment of prisoners and ensure the possibility of delivering necessary items and letters from family members. She mentioned that Russian servicemen receive packages containing warm clothing, food, and greeting cards from home.
