Putin Signs Decree Establishing Commission on AI Technology Development

Russia has established a presidential commission on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies development. The decision was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and published on the legal acts portal.

"In order to enhance the efficiency of formulating and implementing state policy in the field of creation, development of artificial intelligence technologies and their implementation in the economy, social sphere and public administration, I hereby decree: to establish a commission under the President of the Russian Federation on the development of artificial intelligence technologies," the document states.

The decree comes into effect on the day of its signing – February 26, 2026.
