### Russia Plans to Renew 85% of Public Transport Fleet by 2030
Russia is aiming to update at least 85% of its public transport fleet in the regions by 2030, bringing it in line with regulatory standards, according to the Ministry of Transport.
From 2020 to 2024, Russian regions received over 16,000 new vehicles, with approximately 4,500 delivered in 2025 alone. The ministry plans to further renew more than 20,000 units by the end of the decade.
New financing mechanisms are being introduced to support this initiative. One key measure is the introduction of direct subsidies to regions, which will cover at least 40% of the cost of new vehicles. This mechanism is expected to allow for the deployment of at least 1,600 new buses, trams, and other forms of public transport on the roads by 2026.
Existing support programs, such as preferential leasing schemes and modernization projects for electric transport based on concession agreements, will continue to operate alongside these new measures.
