Russian Universities Cut 47,000 Fee-Paying Places, or 13% of Total

Russian universities have reduced 47,000 fee-paying places, equivalent to 13% of the total, according to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The ministry reports that the cuts primarily affected private education institutions and programs in fields such as economics, law, advertising, and public relations.

  • Earlier, the Russian government decided to introduce direct regulation of the number of students admitted on a fee-paying basis starting from the new academic year. The planned restrictions will apply to 40 areas of study.
