Russia Plans to Launch 87 Waste Management Facilities in 2023

Russia plans to establish 87 new solid waste management facilities by 2026, according to the Russian Ecological Operator (REO).
These new facilities will have a total annual waste processing capacity of 8.74 million tons and recycling capacity of 3.66 million tons. Additionally, new landfills will be created with a capacity of 5.96 million tons per year.
Over the past six years, Russia has already commissioned 372 solid waste management facilities: 200 for waste processing (24.68 million tons per year), 113 for recycling (7.56 million tons), 39 for waste disposal (7 million tons), and 20 for waste neutralization (0.48 million tons).
From 2025 to 2030, Russian regions are expected to introduce 408 new integrated solid waste management facilities.
