### Former General Motors Plant in St. Petersburg Resumes Production Production has resumed at the former General Motors factory in Shushary, St. Petersburg, which is now owned by the AGR Automotive Group, according to TASS citing a source. "The plant in Shushary has only just started operating. Employees are currently working in one shift," the source said. The facility is now assembling cars under the Jaecoo sub-brand of the Chinese automaker Chery Automobile, including models J6, J7, and J8. Recruitment for the former GM plant began in December 2025, with positions available for Chinese language translators, mechanics, assembly line operators, and technicians. Salaries ranged from 95,000 to 170,000 rubles. The site was mothballed in 2015 after the departure of the American General Motors. It was purchased by Hyundai in 2020 but ceased production in 2022 following the start of the Special Military Operation (SVO). In 2024, the plant was transferred to AGR Automotive Group.
