Ukraine Rejects Compromises on Territorial Integrity and Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that his country is not open to compromises that would jeopardize its territorial integrity, reiterating that it will not cede control over the Donbas region or the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) without a fight. (The ZNPP, located in southern Ukraine, is currently the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and has been a focal point of the conflict.)
In an interview, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine requires concrete security guarantees before any decision to end hostilities can be made. He criticized the recent pledges by the "Coalition of the Willing" to deploy troops to Ukraine, pointing out that these declarations are not legally binding as they have not been approved by the parliaments of the participating countries. (The "Coalition of the Willing" is an informal alliance of countries pledging support to Ukraine in its defense against Russia.)
