### Russian Pine Nut Exports to China Surge Sixfold in 2025
Russian exports of pine nuts to China surged more than six times in 2025, according to an analysis of Chinese customs data by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. Russia became the third-largest supplier of pine nuts to the Chinese market, trailing Afghanistan and Mongolia.
In 2025, China imported Russian pine nuts—both in shell and shelled—worth $34.6 million, the highest figure in two years. After a decline in 2024, exports rebounded sharply, increasing 6.4 times year-on-year.
The growth in shipments was particularly dynamic towards the end of the year. In September, exports jumped to $3.1 million from $336,000 in August. Shipments continued to rise in subsequent months, reaching $12.95 million in December—11.8 times higher than the previous year and 1.5 times more than November. This monthly volume was the highest since April 2023.
For the year, Russia ranked third among major pine nut exporters to China, behind Afghanistan ($79.7 million) and Mongolia ($41.9 million), but ahead of Pakistan, whose exports totaled $17.9 million.
