Starting June 1, Russia will begin a trial program using biometric data for passenger boarding on flights. The experiment will be conducted on routes between Sheremetyevo Airport and St. Petersburg, according to a press release from the airport.
Passengers will no longer need to present their passports when boarding. Instead, identification will be carried out using the Unified Biometric System (UBS) and the Unified Identification and Authentication System (UIAS).
