Energy consumption in Russia decreased by 0.8% over the year, while electricity generation dropped by 1.2%.

In 2025, electricity consumption in the Unified Energy System (UES) of the Russian Federation amounted to 1.161 trillion kWh. Compared to the previous year, the figure decreased by 0.8%. This was reported by the press service of the "System Operator".

In the past year, new historical maximums of power consumption were recorded in the United Energy Systems of the South and East, as well as in 16 territorial energy systems. Specifically, in Stavropol and Zabaykalsky Krai, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Tatarstan, Buryatia and Yakutia, Chechnya, Crimea and Sevastopol, Krasnodar Krai, Adygea, Khabarovsk Krai, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Moscow and Moscow Region, Rostov, Amur, Voronezh and Kaluga regions.

The annual maximum power consumption was recorded on December 24, 2025 - 166,155 MW, which is 1.2% lower than the record of the previous year.

It was also noted that electricity generation in the UES in 2025 amounted to 1.166 trillion kWh, which is 1.2% lower than the figure for 2024.
