In Russia, in order to support domestic brewers, specialized beer fairs are planned to be organized, similar to the popular German "Oktoberfest" and Russian wine fairs, which have been held since 2021. As reported by "Kommersant" citing a document from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, and in cooperation with industry associations and businesses, are discussing a range of measures to support Russian brewers, including the organization of beer fairs in regions.
According to the publication, support for the Russian brewing industry is planned through stimulating domestic demand and developing distribution channels for products. Market participants noted that specialized fairs show positive results, especially for small producers, for whom these events are the only way to sell their products. It was also noted that holding such festivals will benefit regional economies, which will become centers of attraction for tourism and event activities.
It is noted that this initiative is being discussed against the backdrop of a general decline in beer production and sales. According to Rosalkogoltabakkontrol, beer production for January-November 2025 decreased by 0.5% year-on-year, beer with an alcohol content up to 8.6% - by 1.1%, and beer with an alcohol content above 8.6% - by 7.2%.
