Increasing income for Russians is a top priority for the authorities. Increasing wages stimulates domestic demand, the development of production and services. As stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting on economic issues.
He emphasized that the formation of a high-wage economy should be a basic condition for reducing poverty and improving the living standards of Russian families.
According to him, Russia is consistently moving towards the 2030 target of reducing poverty. He noted that by 2036, the poverty rate in Russia should be below 5%.
He also stressed the need to pay close attention to combating the shadow economy and tax evasion.
Earlier, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported that the poverty rate in Russia for the third quarter of 2025 decreased year-on-year from 8% to 6.5%.
