TASS: EU agrees on sanctions package against 40 tankers and 10 individuals

EU ambassadors have approved for the first time since the start of the Ukraine conflict a limited sanctions package outside the regular schedule, reports TASS citing a source in Brussels diplomatic circles. The EU has agreed on a "small block" of restrictions targeting approximately 40 tankers of so-called "shadow fleet" and around ten physical persons.

Sanctions have been imposed on 40 tankers. They are banned from entering EU ports and receiving any services, including financial, insurance, and technical ones, from European companies. For 10 physical persons (including foreign nationals), entry into the EU and freezing of assets within the community are prohibited.

It is expected that the sanctions will be finally approved at the meeting of EU foreign ministers on December 15.
