The situation in the construction market in the coming years is seen as "alarming" due to a decrease in housing construction volumes. This assessment was given by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, speaking at the Domclick Digital Forum.

According to Khusnullin, in 2024, housing construction in Russia amounted to 107 million square meters, and by the end of 2025, it is expected that this figure will be at least 105 million square meters, meaning that this year will "still be based on old reserves." However, the situation thereafter looks more complicated.

"This is because new construction permits have been issued 22% less. And additionally, about 25% of those issued are not being implemented. Of course, if we do not take some serious measures to support the real estate market now, it will definitely stagnate," Khusnullin stated.

He noted that the main investor in housing remains the population, which invests about 16 trillion rubles annually.

"We, as the government, as representatives of the authorities, must create conditions for the reliability of population investments and conditions for this positive trend in housing construction and the renewal of the entire housing stock to continue," TASS quotes the deputy prime minister as saying.
