By the end of 2025, about 1.5 million new cars will be sold in Russia across all segments, according to a forecast made by Albert Karimov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, at a roundtable discussion in the Federation Council.
- If we look at the overall picture, we expect around 1.5 million cars to be sold across the market. This is, of course, less than the 1.8 million we had last year. However, we anticipate that demand-stimulating measures will help maintain the necessary level, taking into account adjustments to production programs that our manufacturers have today, TASS quoted Karimov as saying.
The deputy minister did not provide a forecast for 2026.
- Given that our stocks are gradually decreasing and there is a certain pent-up demand on the one hand, which will stimulate car purchases, and on the other hand, there is currently an autumn rush caused by the decision to change the procedure for collecting the recycling fee. Partially, this pent-up demand will compensate. Therefore, it is difficult to predict what the effect will be now, he emphasized.
