Deputies of the State Duma have adopted in the second and third final readings an amendment to the "Education Law" that grants the right to ninth-grade students to receive free vocational training if they fail the State Final Examination (GIA) in basic general education programs.
The authors of the bill noted that ninth-graders who fail the main state exam are forced to wait a year until they can retake it. This time can be used by them to acquire a vocational qualification.
The list of professions that teenagers will be able to study for free will be determined by regional authorities.
