The Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast unanimously adopted in the third reading a law prohibiting the sale of non-alcoholic energy drinks in medical institutions, cultural and sports facilities, schools, colleges, universities, and adjacent territories. The law will come into force on March 1, 2026, according to Kommersant. The ban will be in effect two hours before, during, and one hour after events. This is intended to "minimize the harm caused by excessive consumption of these beverages." Thus, Sverdlovsk Oblast became the first region in Russia to introduce legislative restrictions on the sale of energy drinks. The measure will affect 32,800 individual entrepreneurs and legal entities.
