In October, alcohol consumption per person in Russia amounted to 7.74 liters, marking a new 26-year low. Compared to October 2024, the figure decreased by 5%, when consumption stood at 8.14 liters per person annually. These calculations were made by "Vedomosti" based on data from the Ministry of Health. The average alcohol consumption in Russia for January-October 2025 was 8.14 liters per year. Experts attribute the decline in alcohol consumption to rising prices. Over the year, the average price of alcoholic beverages increased by 12%, while sales dropped by 10%. The most significant reduction in alcohol consumption was observed in Kaliningrad (-22% year-on-year), Belgorod (-20%), Smolensk (-18%), Irkutsk (-18%) regions, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast (-18%). Despite this, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast remains among the leaders in terms of absolute alcohol consumption. Here, per capita consumption stands at 15 liters per year. Only the Nenets Autonomous Oblast has a higher figure, with 20 liters per person annually, which is more than double the national average.
