In Russia, wholesale prices for many types of fish have significantly increased over the past year, according to data from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "National Fish Resources" and "RussProdSoyuz" cited by Forbes. By the end of October, Atlantic cod in the Far East had risen by 35.5% (to 515 rubles per kg), Pacific cod by 56% (to 390 rubles per kg), flounder by 48% (to 145 rubles per kg), haddock by 23% (to 375 rubles per kg), and Atlantic capelin by 223.1% (from 65 rubles per kg to 210 rubles). However, wholesale prices for some types of fish have decreased. For example, Far Eastern pollock became cheaper by 2.2%, Pacific herring by 20%, Atlantic herring by 20.9-22.7%, and Atlantic mackerel by 12.7-16.1%. But this is only in the North-West of Russia. Experts did not record a decrease in prices for the year in the Central Federal District when delivered there. In retail, prices for salmon species have noticeably increased (+16.8%, to 1381.25 rubles per kg), "white" processed frozen fish (+26%, to 395.97 rubles per kg), salted and smoked fish (+26%, to 876.34 rubles per kg), and squid (+24.2%, to 628.84 rubles per kg). Imported shrimp prices have risen the least (+4.2%). As for red caviar, wholesale prices for it have decreased by 19.7% since the beginning of the year, and year-on-year by 1.8%, to 3996 rubles per kg. The reason for the decline is attributed to the successful salmon run of 2025.
