The State Duma has adopted a law toughening penalties for crimes against the state as a whole. According to the press service of the State Duma, life imprisonment now threatens those who involve children in terrorist or sabotage activities.
Additionally, under the new law, the statute of limitations for all sabotage-related crimes is abolished, and the right to apply for parole is restricted for those convicted of such crimes. It is also now prohibited to sentence someone conditionally for participation in a sabotage community.
Organizers of sabotage-terrorist communities will be held responsible not only for their creation and leadership but also for all crimes committed by the community.
Teenagers as young as 14 years old will face criminal liability for intentional crimes of a sabotage-terrorist nature.
