Gazmethalpproekt to Pay a Large Fine for "Abuse of Dominant Position"

For "abuse of dominant position," the largest cement producer in the Southern Federal District, "Gazmetallproekt," has now been ordered to pay a turnover fine of 696,554,700.42 rubles. This decision was made by the court, which sided with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).

According to the agency, the antitrust service found that the rate of cement price growth in the Southern Federal District in 2023 exceeded the same indicator for 2022. The profitability indicator in 2023, without any justifying economic factors, doubled compared to 2022. The group of entities "Gazmetallproekt" is known to hold a dominant position in the cement production market in the district.

Notably, the group of entities attempted to challenge the fine decision in the Moscow Arbitration Court, but the punishment was deemed lawful there.
