AGRI-FOOD PRODUCTS TRADE BETWEEN RUSSIA AND CHINA HAS INCREASED BY 15% SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

This information was revealed during the visit of Oksana Lut to China, where she met with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the PRC, Han Jun.

During the first nine months, the mutual trade in agri-food products between Russia and China increased by 15%, including a 10% increase in Russian exports.

Russia mainly supplies China with sunflower and rapeseed oils, crustaceans, frozen fish, and meat. In addition, both sides are working on opening access for a wider range of animal and plant products. Particularly promising areas include animal and plant breeding and genetics, industrial biotechnologies, and digitalization of the agri-food sector.

Efforts are being made to train personnel for the industry. Internship and exchange programs between research institutes, universities, and businesses are being expanded. Specifically, about a thousand Chinese students are currently studying at the universities of the Ministry of Agriculture.

“We are interested in further increasing trade and are ready to significantly increase supplies of products to China,” commented Oksana Lut.
