On Thursday, October 23, the head of the "Deposit Insurance Agency" Andrey Melnikov was detained. According to TASS, he is suspected of large-scale fraud.
The head of the state corporation was accused of fraud in the amount of 4 billion rubles. The Lефfortovsky Court of Moscow placed him under arrest for two months.
Andrey Melnikov was detained within the framework of the case of the former head of the Deposit Insurance Agency, Alexander Popelyukh, who was arrested last year. He is accused of embezzling 200 million rubles. Olga Dolgoleva, deputy general director of the Deposit Insurance Agency, gave evidence against Melnikov. She was arrested in the spring on charges of complicity in fraud.
