Law enforcement officials have detained Andrey Melnikov, the head of the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) in Moscow, according to Interfax.
Melnikov is suspected of large-scale fraud.
It is known that his former deputy, Alexander Popelyukh, who is a defendant in a case involving fraud with the property of the Novosibirsk aquapark "Akvamir", provided testimony against him. According to the investigation, the deputy head of the agency, together with accomplices, stole about 4 billion rubles received from the operation of the park, which was under the competitive management of the DIA after bankruptcy.
