As part of the admission campaign, almost 14 and a half thousand target students were enrolled this year. This was stated at the plenary session of the State Duma by Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Tatyana Semenova.
The data is relevant in anticipation of the possible adoption of the law on personnel retention in the healthcare system. The State Duma has already approved it in the first reading. According to the initiative, state-funded students studying at medical schools will have to sign contracts for targeted training if they receive offers from customers to conclude such contracts and the students meet their requirements. According to Semenova, the most important thing that the bill will allow is to provide residents with medical care as trainee doctors in their second year of study. Since it is important for a student to get involved in work as early as possible and as gently as possible, to gain practical work experience that would meet state quality standards and to integrate into the profession as gently as possible. And it is thanks to the targeted training system that this has been achieved for many years now.
«Probably the most important decision for the education system today is granting admission to second-year residents to provide medical care as trainee doctors, adopting the concept of standard educational programs in medical and pharmaceutical education with limited distance education, commented Tatiana Semenova.
