About 17.1 billion rubles will be received by the Russian Post from the budget for the modernization of branches and compensation for losses in the delivery of socially significant printed publications. This became known the day before at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, according to "Kommersant.
Funds for these purposes will be received in the period from 2026 to 2028. Thus, 15 billion rubles (5 billion rubles annually) will be spent on the modernization of 2.6thousand post offices located in rural areas. Currently, about 2.4million residents use their services. Another 2.1 billion rubles will be spent to compensate for losses in the delivery of socially significant print publications.
Talks about financing the Russian Post began, apparently, after August 2025 Russian Post was fined 230.6 million rubles. The reason for the initiation of an administrative case was the violation by the organization of the conditions for the provision of budgetary investments.Large sums were spent on substandard repairs and upgrades of branches, meaning the funds allocated for 2021-2025 proved ineffective. The company itself assured that "the fine is related to the timing of documentation."
It is noted that funds continue to be allocated, as the Russian Post performs a social function, and in many localities the company remains the only one of its kind, but without government support, many postal services would simply close. However, experts say, such investments are questionable, since they often go to solve old problems and leave the quality of services at the same level.
